About the Aragvi Protected Landscape
The Aragvi Protected Landscape is part of Georgia’s system of protected areas and encompasses 99,802 hectares. It is located in Eastern Georgia, within the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
Established in 2021, the Aragvi Protected Landscape is the largest protected area in Georgia under the IUCN Category V designation. It is managed by the Dusheti Municipality through the Aragvi Protected Landscape Administration.
In addition to its environmental conservation efforts, the administration also implements infrastructure and agricultural projects that support the preservation of local communities and traditional livelihoods. The administration actively collaborates with international organizations and donors to achieve sustainable development goals.
This website was created within the framework of the project “Establishment of Sustainable Management of the Aragvi Protected Landscape” (№GE-2018-022-FO-43040/4), implemented with the support of Czech Development Cooperation. Its aim is to provide a platform where the Aragvi Protected Landscape Administration can share information with local residents and visitors, as well as updates on ongoing projects and their outcomes.
