The Aragvi Protected Landscape encompasses two main geographical regions: the southern part of Pshav-Khevsureti (covering approximately 78% of the protected area) and Gudamakari (comprising the remaining portion along the western boundary).
It is situated on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus, at elevations ranging from 840 to 3,842 meters above sea level. To the north, it borders the Pshav-Khevsureti National Park, and the entire protected landscape lies within the Aragvi River basin.
Pshav-Khevsureti is located in northeastern Georgia on both the northern and southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Range. The total area of the region is approximately 1,600 km², of which Pshavi occupies 560 km² and Khevsureti 1,040 km². Piraketa (or Inner) Khevsureti—centered around the Khevsureti Aragvi River—lies on the southern slopes of the range, while Pshavi is located in the Pshavi Aragvi valley, just south of Piraketa Khevsureti.
Geographically, Pshav-Khevsureti is bordered by Tusheti to the east, Chechnya and Ingushetia (Russian Federation) to the north, Khevi and Mtiuleti-Gudamakari to the west, and Mtiuleti to the south.
The region is surrounded by mountain ranges on both eastern and western sides. To the west lie the Kidegani Range, Chaukhistskali Massif, and the Gudamakari and Alavi Ranges; to the east are the Mutso, Atsunta, Borbalo Mountain, and the Kakheti Range. The landscape is characterized by mid- and high-mountain terrain, including forested mountain zones, subalpine, alpine, subnival, and nival belts.
The Gudamakari region is a narrow strip of land nestled between Pshav-Khevsureti to the east (separated by the Gudamakari Ridge), Mtiuleti to the southwest, and Khevi to the northwest. Its physical geography is similar to that described above, with diverse mountain ecosystems and rugged terrain.
In terms of administrative division, both the southern part of Pshav-Khevsureti and Gudamakari fall under the jurisdiction of the Dusheti Municipality in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region. The protected landscape encompasses the communities of Khevsureti, Magharoskari, Ukanapshavi, and Gudamakari.
