Information Meeting Held with Local Community in Vashlovani Regarding the Expansion of the Aragvi Protected Landscape

An informational meeting was held with residents of the village of Vashlovani concerning the potential expansion of the Aragvi Protected Landscape.

Established in 2021, the Aragvi Protected Landscape encompasses a vast territory of 99,802 hectares, rich in valuable habitats.

Located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus, the Aragvi Protected Landscape spans the valleys of Pshavi, Gudamakari, and Lower Khevsureti.

If the proposed expansion of the valley area proceeds, the Aragvi Protected Landscape will gain additional territory, and the number of staff within the Aragvi Protected Landscape Administration (a Non-Entrepreneurial Non-Commercial Legal Entity) will increase accordingly.

The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Dusheti Municipality, Matsatso Narimanidze; Chairman of the Municipal Council, Kakha Chitauri; Deputy Mayor, Otar Chkheidze; Head of the Biodiversity and Forestry Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Karlo Amirgulashvili; Director of the Aragvi Protected Landscape, Nato Tskhruashvili; and representatives of the Vashlovani valley community.
