✅ The Aragvi Protected Landscape Administration participated in a three-day training on the installation and use of camera traps for biodiversity monitoring and patrolling, funded by the Caucasus Nature Fund and conducted by the NACRES – Biodiversity Conservation and Research Center.
🔸 The training covered the following key topics:
- Biodiversity Monitoring – its goals, methods, and discussion of the latest case studies;
- Camera Traps – various models, principles of operation, key features, and general installation guidelines;
- Track Identification and Recording – advantages and limitations of track-based monitoring, principles of tracking, and examples, including the monitoring of large mammals by following tracks;
- GPS Navigation Basics – coordinate systems, data collection, and application in fieldwork;
- Hands-on GPS Exercises – saving locations, reading coordinates, entering pre-selected and memorized coordinates into GPS devices to locate specific points;
- Object Search – locating a hidden item using GPS;
- Field Installation of Camera Traps – setting traps in realistic terrain conditions;
- GPS-based Retrieval of Camera Traps – using coordinates to relocate and check traps.
